Saqqara Necropolis
Saqqara is one of Egypt’s most remarkable archaeological treasures and the oldest major stone complex in human history. Serving as the vast necropolis of the ancient city of Memphis, it was the burial ground for royalty and nobles for more than 3,000 years.
Its centerpiece is the legendary Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by the architect Imhotep during the 27th century BCE. Recognized as the world’s first large-scale stone structure, it represents the beginning of pyramid construction and a revolutionary leap in ancient engineering.
Visitors to Saqqara can explore:
The Step Pyramid Complex
Ancient tombs with vivid wall carvings
The Serapeum (burial place of the sacred Apis bulls)
The Pyramid of Unas with the earliest pyramid texts
Your private tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo or Giza, and drive you to visit the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the world's oldest major stone structure, in Sakkara. It was built in the 3rd Dynasty (around 2630 BC) for King Djoser. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, before moving on to enjoy an excursion to Dahshur.
